Tom Stegeman "My playing has revolutionized since I got a Farnell G-1. I originally bought it because I thought it just had a really rad body shape and a funky finish. But then I found out that it is the ultimate guitar for live gigging. It is by far the lightest guitar I have ever played. The weight is also balanced so there is no neck dive. The smooth contoured shape makes it very easy for moving around onstage comfortably. The neck profile is also thin like a Wizard neck and I was able to set it up with a low enough action to shred like Paul Gilbert! Fast accurate alternate picking and tricky cord changes were easier than I had been used to, so that was really exciting. The material and finish is more durable than any other guitars I have played, so that also makes it ideal for gigging. The material is also very resonant and I am able to get better sustain than my other guitars, even when I set it up with a low action. The G-1 has many of the same universal hardware/electronic specs of strat/strat-adjacent guitars, so it is also very easy to remove and add parts if you want to add your own custom parts. After a while, I added my own tuning machines, strap locks, and pickups without any issues. The luthier Al Farnell was also very responsive and informative throughout the process of buying it and answered any questions I had about the detailed nuances of its specifications. Farnell guitars are criminally under-rated and I'd recommend one to anyone who is looking for something lightweight & unique, but this is still able to handle fast and technical playing too."
